As a dedicated Call of Duty: Mobile player, the arrival of a new season always sends a jolt of excitement through me. And Season 2, dubbed Lunar Charge, is no exception. Launching on February 11 at 4 PM PT, this season celebrates the Year of the Horse with a Lunar New Year theme, and it's packing a massive amount of content across DMZ: Recon, Multiplayer, and Battle Royale. I've been poring over the details, and I'm ready to share my thoughts on everything coming our way. 🐎

DMZ: Recon — Missiles, Gods, and a Deadly Boss
First, let's talk about DMZ: Recon. The missile site event is a thrilling addition. When it pops up, my squad and I rush to clear out enemies around marked sites, activate a computer, and launch a missile at a moving train. The explosion alerts everyone in the match, so we have to get there fast to claim the loot, including a lockpickable special package. It's a race against time that gets my adrenaline pumping.
There's also a new contract on Serpent Island maps tied to the Five Gods of Wealth collaboration. We find the contract, activate it, and collect items from marked locations. Once we have them all, we summon the Five Gods to exchange for money. It's a fun twist on the usual DMZ grind.
And then there's Velikan in Building 21. This deadly boss shows up near the elevator with armored guards, lobbing grenades from his War Machine. Taking him down is a serious challenge, but the rewards—like a loot version of his grenade launcher—are worth it. I also love that I can find Mythic Weapon Parts in both Serpent Island and Building 21. Extracting with one gives me a three-day trial of a select Mythic Weapon. That's a great way to test out these powerful guns before committing.

Plunder Makes Its Mobile Debut
Now, the big news for Battle Royale: Plunder makes its Call of Duty: Mobile debut! I've played Plunder in other Call of Duty titles, and it's a blast. Drop into Isolated as a trio and race to accumulate $1 million. You earn cash by looting supply crates, securing Airdrop Crates, completing Contracts, and eliminating enemies who drop a portion of their cash. Since everyone respawns, the action never stops. The highest-cash players get marked on the map, and announcements broadcast when a squad hits 50% and 90% of the goal. To secure your cash, you can use Cash Balloons (holding $150k each) or Deposit Helicopters (no limit, but a global alert warns everyone). Once a squad exceeds $1 million, a three-minute bonus round begins with a x1.5 cash multiplier. The richest squad at the end wins. I can't wait to dive in.

Multiplayer Mayhem: Shipment, 1v1 Duel, and Ranked Play
On the Multiplayer side, Shipment gets a Lunar New Year makeover. The infamous map is now decked out in red and gold, with falling snow, firecrackers, Spring Festival couplets, and festive lighting. It's live until February 25 (UTC), so I'll be grinding matches there to soak in the holiday vibe.
The 1v1 Duel also returns, and it's perfect for settling scores. It's a best-of-three matchup, first to seven eliminations wins a round. You choose your Loadout for the first round, but after that, the loser picks the weapon class for both players. Scorestreaks and Operator Skills are disabled, but health regeneration is active. Every match awards a trophy, and you can unlock milestone rewards for earning multiple trophies. I'm already practicing my aim.
Season 2 also kicks off a new Ranked Play season. Climbing the ranks will earn me rewards like the epic Death Angel Alice — Nighthawk Operator Skin and the Epic RAM-7 Mystical Weapon Blueprint. Time to grind! 🏆

Seasonal Events: Fortune, Duels, and Ramadan
The seasonal events are packed with goodies. The Five Fortune Gods event has daily missions that let me flip cards to earn Wealth Points, unlocking rewards like the Epic Type 25 — Emerald Prosperity Weapon Blueprint. The 1v1 Duel event rewards trophies, Secret Caches, a new Merc 2 Operator Skin, and weapon camos. And for Ramadan, starting February 16 (UTC), there's a free event with themed rewards like Zero — Tranquil Nights, AK47 — Luminous, and SVD — Falcon's Eye. Other events include a DMZ: Recon team-up event and a Spring Break beach-themed event in March.

Battle Pass and Challenges: Lachman-556 and More
The Lunar Charge Battle Pass is a treasure trove. The free tiers include the new Lachman-556 Assault Rifle, a versatile weapon that bridges the gap between SMG and AR. There's also a Counter UAV Scorestreak Reskin, weapon camos, Secret Caches, avatars, and calling cards. The Premium Pass unlocks Operator Skins like Park — VNN Field Reporter, Stitch — The Butcher of Zordaya, Isabella — Puno, and Sliver Good Fortune, plus Weapon Blueprints like DLQ33 — Aftermath, PP19 — Headliner, SKS — Prison Break, and Lachman-556 — Full Steam. I'm definitely grabbing the Premium Pass.
If you subscribe to the Battle Pass, you join the Ground Forces and get monthly rewards, a 10% XP boost, discount coupons, and limited discounts on 10x crate pulls. Season 2 Ground Forces get the Daniel — Wartorn Operator Skin, UL736 — Fortune's Charge Weapon Blueprint, and Backpack — Fortune's Charge.
The Season 2 Challenge Pass has Standard, Special, and Elite Missions. Earning Tokens lets me buy seasonal items in the Exchange, like a Modern Warfare (2019)-themed Care Package Scorestreak Reskin and a Black Ops Cold War-themed Flashbang Grenade Reskin.

Store and Draws: Mythic Lachman-556 and Golden Turn
The store is getting some amazing Draws. The new Mythic Lachman-556 in the Forged in Ruin Draw combines sci-fi and dark magic for a fearsome look. It can be upgraded into a slaying machine. The Draw also includes the Legendary Krueger — Utter Destruction Operator Skin. The Golden Turn Draw features Lustre in a red and gold design inspired by the Five Gods of Wealth, along with her Legendary VMP — Crimson Sparkfire Weapon Blueprint, which has a special inspection animation with a slot machine spin—hit 888 for a celebratory animation! Other Draws include the Oden — Quantum Impact and Kestrel — Coefficient, a Lunar New Year themed Dawn of the Horse Draw, and a Mythic Siren rerun later in the season.
Don't forget the Web Store deals, like Valentine's Day Crates and new bundles. There's a free daily gift, too. And if you purchase at least three main Lucky Draw weapons during Season 2, you unlock the Legendary M13 — Liminal Flare Prestige Weapon. The Battle Pass Vault is also adding three passes: Lunar Dragon (Season 2 – 2024), Task Force 141 (Season 2 – 2022), and Tokyo Escape (Season 3 – 2021).

Final Thoughts
Season 2 — Lunar Charge is shaping up to be one of the most content-rich seasons yet. From the chaotic fun of Plunder to the intense 1v1 Duels, and from the festive Shipment variant to the epic Battle Pass rewards, there's something for every type of player. I'll be marking my calendar for February 11 at 4 PM PT. See you online! 🎉
